Ver*sigh*

Maddie posted some ill pics from Versailles.  I would also like to comment on the place.  It was in Versaille that i realized i was born to live in a castle.  Did you know that during the rein of Louis XIV, there were 10,000 people living in the Versailles castle?  The king wanted to keep his people close, and the citizens wanted to be near the "sun king."  the closer you physically were to the king, the more power you had.  I wish i could house all of my loves back in america in our apartment here.  I dont think we could fit 10,000, but thats okay because i definatly do not have that many friends.  still, if y'all want i can try rent out the castle so we can all hang out in france together, and get lost in the maze and feed swans together.  i think that would be nice.  i'll contact Shane an Jenelle, the real estate agents with cartoon advertisements on bus benches in saint paul.  I hope they can help me out.

we went to Versailles with our Revolution class.  Which was cool, i mean, i'd rather learn in a garden than in a classroom, but i was very distracted during our lectures and discussions.  i spent most of my time twitching (and SHIVERING in the morning--it was soooo cold!!) and trying to stop myself from running off and jumping into a row boat and taking my dear madeline on a romantic ride.

i like modern art, but there is a time and a place for it.  there was a jeff koons exhibition INSIDE the castle.  It was terrible.  when i am looking at a ballroom where royalty had parties before the revolution, i don't want to see a blow-up lobster i would have rode in the Olander's pool when i was 12 years old hanging in the center of the room.  i took some pictures of these things, just so you know what i'm talking about.

Now that i've seen the castle, i really want to see Marie Antoinette's farm, where she pretended to be a peasant.  all peasants have their lambs fur died to match the color of their dresses everyday, right?
