I took this picture in the 3e arrondissement. i thought it was strange to see a toilet sitting on the sidewalk, but i've actually seen two others since then. perhaps september is Throw Out Your Old Toilet Month? Je ne sais pas. I should probably ask someone.
anyway...
Phew. I'm tired. not only did i traipse around the city, go to a couple of classes and visit the louvre, maddie and i just had an intense dance/ jump on the bed(s) party in the dark in our apartment.
I think i have caught my breath now. what have i been up to....
i feel like i've spent hours in BHV, which is like a french target/home depot/ nordstrom three-way love-child. we finally got adaptors so that we don't electrocute ourselves when we plug in our computers in our apartment. thank god we met our neighbor, Migul (Michael)... he is the one who probably saved us from burning down our whole building. we asked him if his electricity sparked and went out when he turned the light on... apparently this was happening because we were using a converter instead of an adaptor. after several trips to BHV, we finally found the adaptor section and got some other things we needed for the apartment (including a straightener... or shall i say, a curl-flattener. we look great (?)).
classes have begun. i have yet to buy my books. this hasn't caused too many problems so far.
i discovered a weird little coffee machine in the basement of our school. it only costs 40 cents, woot woot! i like espresso but am dyingggg for a huge cup of coffee (god bless america for dunkin donuts!), so i think i might just bring a thermos to school and buy 2 euros worth of crappy machine coffee to sip on all day. i don't drink too much sody pop in the US, but i've been enjoying coca cola zero here in paris. i order it mostly because it reminds me of portland. (it was fun skyping with you dad! miss you.)
what else....
i have showered twice since i've been here.
biz,
SMB
